Hey stamping friends :) Oh my it's the first of October already! Where has the time gone?! One good thing about October is it's the beginning of Kathy's 30 Day Coloring Challenge. I've had my eye on Kathy's blog The Daily Marker for some time now, but have never joined in on her previous coloring challenges. Why?? Am I a little intimated by the talent and creativity that oozes out of every project she creates? Maybe...Seriously folks, today she turned a Starbucks coffee cup into the most adorable card, seriously.
But hey, you don't get better if you don't practice right? With Kathy's latest coloring challenge I am looking at getting inky a LOT.
I also checked out the latest challenge at the Curtain Call: Going Batty.
Oh yeah, I've got the perfect set for that! I pulled out the stinkin' cute set from MFT Stamps called Witch Way is the Candy.
I created a background using distress inks in Seedless Preserves and Chipped Sapphire. I colored my image with the following Copics:
Cat: N5, 58, N10 - Eyes: FRV1, RV09
Bats: N1, N3, N5, N7 - Eyes: YG01, YG06
Moon: Y06, Y13, Y8
I added a little BG000 and BG01 behind the cat, and added some black dots with my black Copic multiliner.
Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you get a chance to get inky soon!
Hey stamping friends :) How's your week going? Oh my we're sooo close to the weekend I can almost taste it! One more work day and we're home free! The weather here in New England is supposed to be beautiful this weekend, upper 60's and dry during the day and cool nights, that is perfect in my book! Jeff and the boys will be thrilled (my scale not so much), cool weather prompts me to bake.
Today I'm playing along with the latest CASology challenge, which is to create a card with circles. I think I've got enough circles for everyone on this card! The stamp set I used is called Birthday Wishes & Balloons from MFT Stamps.
I'm working on a blog makeover and trying to come up with a catchy name. Man oh man this is harder than it should be! With so many blogs out there I want my own identity, but Stamps, Paper, Glitter! no longer really works...I started this blog maybe 8 years ago and added glitter to practically everything I made so it was appropriate then, now not so much.
Thanks for stopping by!
Hey stamping friends :) It's time for a new challenge at The Card Concept and this week we've got a fun theme for you to try: Forest Friends. How cute is this inspiration photo?!?
I was inspired by the cute animals and found this sweet moose to use. He is from There She Goes Stamps, which sadly went out of business some time ago, but I scooped up some stampy goodness before they closed.
I colored my moose with the following Copics:
Moose: E31, E33, E35, E37, E47
Trees: G20, G24, G28
Scarf: B91, B93, B97
I created my background by using distress inks in Chipped Sapphire, Salty Ocean and Tumbled Glass, then I flicked water on it to make a speckled sky. I found some sparkly card stock to die cut my stars from and of course being a clean and layered girl added a few more layers before applying it all to a white base.
Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you'll find some time to join us this week, we'd love to see what you create :)
Hey stamping friends :) I hope you've had a great weekend. We've been quite busy, with lots of yard work done yesterday and grocery shopping and meal planning for the week done today. Jeff told me today that fall is his favorite season, not only because it's nice working weather, but because I start cooking "real" meals again. Yep, I am quite a slacker in the summer with a menu that pretty much includes cheeseburgers and grilled chicken, and everything is accompanied by corn on the cob lol. How does the change of seasons change your meal cooking?
It's about this time on Sunday afternoon that I start getting the work week blues, so I'm combating the dread of work starting again with some stamp therapy.
I turned to one of my favorite sketch sites for some inspiration, and of course the gals at the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge did not disappoint!
I flipped the sketch upside down and switched out the butterfly for a balloon bow. What a quick and easy card, I can see myself making this card over & over by changing up the DSP and colors. Hmmm, that might be a nice gift pack, who can't use a stack of pre-made birthday cards? I used the Blueprints 26 Die-namics from MFT Stamps, and the DSP is from the Hello Again collection of Carta Bella Paper
Thanks so much for stopping by :)
Hey stamping friends :) Yep, I'm back with another card for the My Favorite Things contest, You Could Be a Card Design Superstar. I happen to be home alone tonight, so what better thing to do than stamp?!?
Here's another cutie I got from My Favorite Things last month called Clowning Around. And, I was even smart enough this time to pick up the matching die so that I could avoid fussy cutting him, yay! I colored him in with Copics, but for his shorts/suspenders, I used some fun striped DSP. I added another layer to his gloves too, to make them look a little more 3-D.
I used the sketch from Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge. This is definitely my go to place when I sit down to stamp, why come up with a fancy layout when it's all done for you right there ?!?
Thanks so much for stopping by!
Hey stamping friends :) As you probably know by now, My Favorite Things is truly my favorite stamp company out there.
Guess what?! They're hosting a contest called You Could Be a Card Design Superstar. I could not resist getting inky on this one. There are about a zillion entries, but I had to throw my hat in the ring! This is actually the second card I'm submitting, and with a deadline of Friday who knows, maybe there will be more...
Here are the MFT supplies I used for my card:
Stamp set: Witch Way Is the Candy? (note to self, buy the matching die set to avoid fussy cutting next time!)
Card Stock: Wild Wisteria, Black Licorice, X-Press It Blending Card (white)
Accessories: Die-namics Stitched Fishtail Flags STAX
Thanks so much for stopping by!
Hey stamping friends :) Today I'm playing along with the current Tag You're It challenge, which is to create a tag using this inspiration photo:
What a fun theme! I was inspired by the festive colors and little pops of bling around the cupcake. There is some sparkle to my cupcakes as well which for the life of me I could not capture in my photo! I took a separate one to give you a look:
I added the sparkle with a Sakura Gelly Roll pen. I was going to add glitter, but I just knew I would make a mess on those sweet little cupcakes!
The stamp set I used is called Sweet Birthday Wishes, and I used about half my Copics to color them in (ha just kidding, but boy there are a lot of markers covering my desk right now!). The tag is made using the Die-namics Traditional Stitched Tags, and I used the Stitched Fishtail Flags for the Happy Birthday tag. I also added a few rhinestone gems from SU!.
Thanks so much for stopping by :)
Hey stamping friends :) I'm playing along with the Retro Sketches challenge again this week, here's the sketch:
I'm also entering this into the You Could be a Card Design Superstar contest for My Favorite Things. You can enter up to 5 cards! Time to get crackin' on some more MFT Stamps creations!
I knew this sketch would be perfect for some new goodies I got from My Favorite Things last month. They had an unbelievable selection of birthday themed stamps and dies in their release so I just couldn't resist!
The only stamping on this card is the word "birthday" and I used the SU! set called Fundamental Phrases for that, the rest are all die cuts from Blueprints 26 and Die-namics Birthday Balloons. I added a few sprinkles for a little something extra.
Thanks so much for stopping by!
Well hello there stamping friends! We have had quite a hiatus over at The Card Concept blog, we took the entire summer off. It was nice to relax and refresh, but it's also SO nice to be back to our challenges! Lesley has come up with a fabulous inspiration photo as usual:
My style is Clean and Layered, and I was inspired by the sweet daisies and of course I couldn't help but highlight a bit of the aqua blue as well!
The stamp set I used is called Gerber Daisies by Flourishes (unfortunately they are closed, oh how I miss that store!). I colored it with my Copics and added several layers of card stock.
We hope you're ready to get stamping again too, we'd love to see what you create! Thanks for stopping by :)
